A stray dog was hit by a car and was critically injured. He was rescued by a young couple in Kagoshima prefecture, Tsutomu Sakou and his wife Noriko. The aftereffect of the accident has left his hind legs paralyzed. the Sakous tried to find the dog's owner in vain. So they decided to try to make him able to walk by himself again. They made a wheelchair for him. The half paralyzed dog was named Maachan.

Hiroshima was reduced to nothing. Paul Tibbets piloted the Enola Gay, the B-29 bomber that dropped the A-bomb on Hiroshima city. Tibbets, who until now had been reluctant to speak to the Japanese media, agreed to talk of his experiences.

Mariya Kan-no, a singer from the Philippines and her daughter Risa work as a mother and daughter duo to perform charity concerts at retirement homes and other welfare facilities. Last year out of her desire to do something for the children of the Philippines, she single-handedly organized and held a fund-raising concert in Sendai City. She and Risa personally delivered all the proceeds to her native country, distributing presents to impoverished children.
