 This
is a two part mini-series drama about a trainee officer of the Maritime
Safety Agency, which guards the coast of Japan. The story evolves in how
he develops himself into a true professional through one incident occurring
in the sea, interwoven by a life of a young female newspaper journalist.Kagoshima is situated at the southern tip of Japan. An emergency call comes into the Kagoshima Maritime Agency and a patrol ship heads to the scene. Inside the drifting cruiser, they find a dead middle-aged couple and their young son who was left there. The Agency announces the incident as a double suicide. However, the trainee officer questions the fact that there was no engine key for the cruiser at the scene. He discovers the fact that earlier on the day of the incident, the dead man purchased some blank video tapes in order to record the parents' visiting day which will take place at his son's school in a few days time. The young journalist is also interested in the murder theory and stars her investigation under the supervision of her superior. The trance officer and the young journalist suspect the dead man's sister and her husband in connection with the huge sum of insurance money they are to receive･･･ An unexpected twist finds that the culprit, who was cornered, takes the boy and the journalist as hostages and tries to make a getaway on the cruiser. The big chase of the Maritime Agency patrol ships starts and the story comes to the climax. The cruiser crashes into the reef and the hostages are thrown into the sea.
