| To scout the movement of Kageyu Toda who heads for Kyoto,
Jubei visits his home village Yagyu in Yamato, not very far from Kyoto. Ume,
a girl who works on the Yagyu estate has always adores Jubei as if he were her
brother. In the sword drill hall on the Yagyu estate, there is a quiet man called Gorobei, who came to live there as a disciple a few months earlier. Ume starts to become attracted to Gorobei who seems too gentle to kill anybody with a sword. Gorobei also starts to have feelings for her. Jubei feels happy for the two of them. However, after an incident in Edo when Tajimanokami Munenori is attacked, Gorobei changes. His true identity is the assassin Munen Shimada, who has been ordered by Kageyu Toda to kill Jubei! | |
